International Men's Health Week June 14-21, 2021
Hey guys! You want to maintain a healthy body and a healthy heart, right? Well here are some tips on how you can achieve both.
In combination with a healthy diet, a regular exercise regimen will keep your body functioning optimally, and life feeling great!
Here are some suggestions to get you started:
Exercise 20-30 minutes, 3-4 days per week
Include a variety of cardio, stretching; and strength exercises.
Be sure to warm up with low impact cardio, stretching or light or no weight exercises to improve performance and protect your heart & muscles
Do activities you love - Biking, golfing, swimming, hiking, boxing, rowing, gardening, weight-training, and more. The possibilities are endless. You are more likely to stick with it if you enjoy it.
Create a movement lifestyle - you can keep active by walking after dinner; not sitting too long in one spot, but get up and do some stretching exercises; park your car further away from your office or place of business; take the stairs occasionally instead of the elevator; rake the leaves; mow the lawn; and other activities which you enjoy and can engage in on a daily basis.
Coronary heart disease affects men more than women. You need to ensure you are taking every opportunity to protect and maintain a healthy heart. If you smoke, stop; if you are eating processed foods; change to healthier, nutrient-dense foods; choose to eat lean meats; vegetables, and fruits. Exercise will not only keep your weight down but will also help lower your cholesterol as well.
It just takes a little effort to change your lifestyle to enjoy the benefits of a good life for a long time to come.
